"Clinical Trial" stars Miyuki Son, playing a woman who suffers from extreme depression who has come to Dr. Steve after hearing about his work in hipnohssiss therapy. Steve has her undergo a trial of his new device, a flashing ball called the "orb of contentment", that's supposed to give her peace of mind and make her happy. She goes into a trance by focusing on the ball while he tells her that her negative thoughts and emotions are melting away, to be replaced by happiness.

He asks her if she feels better, but she just sits there smiling at him with a dazed look on her face. He tries to snap her out of the happy trance, but nothing seems to work; she remains unaware of her surroundings. He takes her home, hoping that she will come out of the trance in familiar surroundings, but she remains completely dazed. Dr. Steve takes her into her bedroom with the idea that if she takes a nap it might snap her out of it, but then he gets the idea that a shower might break her from the trance. She strips out of her clothes and takes a shower, remaining in her happy trance the whole while. After the water is turned off she continues to massage her breasts with a serene smile on her face.

Steve then has the idea that maybe the touch of another person will snap her out of her trance.
